Spencers

BardfieldVineyard'Spencers has a romantic, 18th century walled garden laid out by Lady Anne Spencer, grand-daughter of the first Duke of Marlborough.

Following Tom Stuart-Smith's renovation it is now overflowing with spectacle and features what is supposedly the oldest greenhouse in Essex.

Of special note - huge tumbling wisteria; armies of 'true-blue' Lord Butler delphiniums ("Rab" lived at Spencers in later life); dazzling herbaceous borders; vibrant green clover garden; rich variety of roses; mature grounds with abundant ancient trees and a Victorian woodland garden in the valley below.

Lunches, teas, receptions for special groups available and Spencers' own plants for sale
